In the Mirror

"In the Mirror" is one of my favorite poems, written in 1984 by the Chinese poet Zhang Zao. "Regret" has always been a heavy topic, but in this poem, regret is as light as a petal. Each stage of the poem uses different images and verbs to express a different sense of gravity. In my understanding, this poem portrays extremely beautiful and helpless memories. Words and sentences are very restrained from expressing emotions, so the whole poem expresses a kind of light and sorrow.
